radial launches on 5th September from the team behind Ten87 Studios, north London’s biggest creative hub for music makers
Tottenham is getting a new home for live music, listening events and creative experiments. radial, a 250-capacity venue built around sound, opens on 5th September from Ten87 Studios, the recording studio group behind more than 60 creative spaces across the area.
It’s the next chapter for Ten87, founded in 2014 by Rob Burn and Romy Quinnen after Rob spotted a gap for high-quality creative space in London’s music scene. Over the past decade, their studios have hosted artists including Fontaines D.C., Wolf Alice, PC Music, Sherelle and Mount Kimbie. Now they’re moving from making music into staging it.
The venue has been designed by creative studio SODA, taking cues from Olafur Eliasson’s The Weather Project. Its circular concept shapes how people arrive, move through the space and watch performances. It’ll hold 250 to 300 standing, or up to 80 seated on flexible Japanese-style loungers, with a main room built around a 10-point custom sound system from acoustician Nick Whitaker, best known for his work on legendary nightclub Plastic People (RIP).
Expect intimate gigs, eclectic club nights, workshops, talks and sound-based wellness alongside more conventional live shows. That sound-first approach puts radial in good company. London’s listening bar scene has exploded in recent years, and we’ve been tracking the rise of music-focused bars and restaurants since it first took hold.
Romy, also a recording artist, says smaller venues are essential to London’s musical ecosystem: “We’ve watched so many closures over recent years. We just want to give people a new space for culture and connection.”
She’s not wrong. It’s also another reason to head to N17. Tottenham has been quietly building its own scene beyond the football stadium, and radial adds a proper night out to a neighbourhood we’ve already been recommending for its breweries, pubs and green spaces.
