A HIGH LINE-STYLE PARK IS COMING TO SHOREDITCH

London is getting an NYC-style High Line park – we’ve heard that more than once over the past few years and now we’re saying it again as plans for a new development in Shoreditch have been given the green light. The Bishopsgate Goodyard site between Shoreditch High Street and Spitalfields, which has been derelict for years, is being transformed into The Goodsyard, a mixed-use area consisting of housing, workspaces and a public park.

The park will sit on top of restored railway arches and will include a series of connected terraces, gardens and walkways, with eight of the buildings in the development having biodiverse rooftops thanks to plants, beehives and water storage. The Goodsyard will also be completely car-free with 3000 additional cycle spaces and a new east-west pedestrian street running from BrickLane to Shoreditch High Street.

We’ve already got The Tide linear park in Greenwich and the Camden Highline project is still underway too so it seems we really are catching up with NYC.
