Sibling duo Gabriel Larraz and Marta Verdu are about to launch their debut restaurant, Broken Eggs, with a menu that spotlights tortillas
After a trial run in a dark kitchen last year, Gabriel and Marta of Broken Eggs are coming back – this time with a brick and mortar site. The new restaurant will centre around classic Spanish tortillas, served in a welcoming setting with a homey atmosphere.
The concept was born out of the brother and sister team’s nostalgia-fuelled hunt for authentic tortillas that would reflect their Mediterranean roots. While modest, tortillas are incredibly versatile, they can be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner; they can be thrown in a sandwich (a ‘bocadillo’); they can be combined with any number of ingredients. At Broken Eggs, it sounds like you can expect them to be served fresh out of the oven, with melt-in-the-middle and hand-carved Ibérico ham.
We don’t know exactly what will be on the menu just yet, but we do know that there’ll be a range of starters, salads, cheese, charcuterie and desserts on offer in addition to tortillas. We’ll keep you updated with info as we get it – stay tuned.
