There’s already a cracking selection of places to get a flaky pastry in the capital but a new spot dedicated to the OG croissant is set to open in Soho next month. Taking over the old HipChips site on Old Compton Street, Criss Cross is re-inventing the classic into something a lot more bougie and with chef Roberto Guzzi in charge of the kitchen, you bet they’re a treat for the eyes as well as the mouth.
Throw out the butter and jam, because this menu looks next level. From sweet options including the likes of matcha blueberry; yuzu and black sesame praline; and pecan frangipane with vanilla cream, to savoury options featuring whisky cured salmon and seaweed; four cheese and black truffle; and guacamole and cheese. These aren’t any old croissants. The folks at Criss Cross are also feeling generous and giving away a FREE pastry to the first 100 people through the door on opening day (which we don’t have a date for quite yet). Get ready, the ‘gram is gonna be flooded with pics of this one.
