A Chinese Burger Restaurant Is Coming to Chinatown

Alex Xu is opening Kung Fu Burger this year

The team behind Hong Kong-style cafe The Eight and pan-Asian spot YiQi, is expanding its presence in Chinatown this year with hand-pulled noodle joint SanHao, and its not the only restaurant group that’s growing in the area. Alex Xu, who already operates bubble tea joint Happy Lemon, Taiwanese dessert parlour Meet Fresh, and hand-pulled noodle restaurant Kung Fu Noodle, is gearing up to open his fourth spot in Chinatown.

Kung Fu Burger, opening in a kiosk on Shaftesbury Avenue, will serve up a range of Chinese burgers – something that’s not too common in London – made with sourdough Chinese-style buns and fillings like shredded pork belly, chicken and vegetables.

Speaking about the new concept, Alex Xu said, “Chinatown London has proven time and time again to be the perfect location in the capital to launch a concept inspired by the ESEA region, and I have seen the destination evolve over the years into a cultural hub reflective of the Far East. Kung Fu Burger brings the Chinese-inspired burger trend to London, and given the ongoing success of Happy Lemon, Meet Fresh, and Kung Fu Noodle, I have great confidence in this latest operation within the Chinatown London portfolio.”

Opens 2024
104 Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1D 5EQ
