He’s done a cheese truck, a cheese bar and a cheese conveyer belt restaurant, and now Mathew Carver is taking to the water to open The Cheese Barge. AHOY. The double decker boat will be permanently moored on the Grand Union Canal and will serve up a hell of a load of cheese.

The menu will include Windrush goats’ curd with lamb scrumpets and pickled walnuts; Cropwell Bishop stilton devils on horseback; curried Quicke’s Cheddar curds; Maida Vale washed rind cheese with treacle soda bread and smoked mackerel; aligot made with Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire; a half-kilo baked-to-order Baron Bigod; and Yorkshire curd tart with malted milk chocolate cremeux.

The Cheese Barge will also serve up a range of charcuterie, including a sausage laced with cheese, and a weekly list of seasonal cheese pairings, like Winslade with chilli dukkah and St Andrews Cheddar with green kimchi. Sweet cheesus that sounds good.
