a 50s rock’n’roll pub has opened in stokey

If you think pubs have lost their charm and just look all the same these days, you’ll be pleased to hear about the opening of Be-Bop-A-Lula in Stokey. The 50s rock ‘n’ roll pub comes from the team behind The Alma in Newington Green and includes American diner classics, live bands, quizzes, musical memorabilia, Rock-aoke (strictly pre-60s karaoke), and a 1950s Wurlitzer jukebox with thousands of classics exclusive to Be-Bop-A-Lula. With walls covered in posters and 50s artwork, 30 vintage guitars hanging above the bar, 50s TVs, record players, board games and a slot machine, this place is unlike any other gastropub we know. When it comes to the food you can expect classic diner and pub grub with dishes including The Famous Elvis Sandwich with mashed banana, peanut butter and bacon; Hound Dog with a saveloy and fried caramelised onions; and the BB King Ribs. Of course they’ve got the booze down too, and with a late weekend licence you can dance (or sing) the night away til 2am…
