BARFLY

Thom and Lucy Southern brought their live show to Camden’s Barfly on Tuesday and we don’t use the term live loosely…if the onstage energy could be bottled and sold, we’d all be mixing the quadruple shot lattes on Mondays. The Belfast brother and sister songsmiths tore through a set filled with future hits from their upcoming debut album and of course a few more familiar ditties too.

Reminiscent of The Dead weather (minus the dead) and fellow Northern Irish musicians The Basement (not to be confused with emo rockers Basement), the dynamic duo had the audience wanting more with screams and stamps for an encore leaving the floor feeling just a little shakey.

Thom’s vocals were even more glorious than on the records and we did overhear a group behind us cooing over Lucy’s ridiculous levels of cool. However the award for highlight of the gig goes to the fact that despite all this musical greatness and blatant goingtobehugeness, they still seemed like the level headed lads next door during their endearingly down to earth onstage chitchat…they even confessed it was their first London headline show, could’ve fooled us!
