May venture South to the Herne Hill Film Festival. Beginning on the 2nd for the entire month, this event is entirely free and offers a wide and eclectic range of films for your viewing pleasure. Several of the area’s renowned locations, such as the Velodrome and Brockwell Lido, will be the new homes to these temporary cinemas – one film is even getting projected onto the front of Herne Hill station! (Be sure to bring a chair and plenty of cushions for that one.)

But it’s not all about the watching. Local street food vendors will be on standby for when hunger strikes, and if you fancy yourself a bit of Spielberg there is even a 48-film competition to take part in.

So get a bit of culture in ya, and head down to the leafy suburbs (kind-of!) of Herne Hill. For more details about the film listings or event, take a peek at their website.
