Marmot is a touring pop-up dining experience which believes starch should be on the tatties not the table clothes. The latest pop-up sees them shack up in a studio in East London, Wapping to be precise, for a series of brunch and dinner events with chef LA Chef Laurent Quenioux at the stove.

We went along on Saturday to check out the brunch. The concept is to offer a fine dining, tasting menu only at a fraction of the price, brunch will set you back £24 for four courses. But if you’re looking for a fry-up this isn’t for you, oh no this menu is gourmet baby – don’t worry we’ve translated in brackets…

Brunch kicks off with a hearty corn succotash and hare meatballs (like a sweetcorn chowder or really creamy soup), this is followed by the Boudin Blanc (the white version of black pudding) with quail egg (small bird yeah?) and is third up is the Congee (savoury porridge) with smoked haddock, poached egg and oyster (shellfish often enjoyed by high rollers). To end, and what was probably our favourite course, the Brioche French toast with Comice pear, mulberry and chocolate yuzu (a heavenly sweet treat).

There’s also live music and the Rose Sangria cocktail is worth a shot. This series ends on 14th November but follow Chateau Marmot on Twitter to keep up future events.
