BANDO BELLY IS RETURNING WITH A SITE IN BRIXTON

Cult soul food spot Bando Belly is returning to South London for the first time after closing down in May last year

Following a successful fundraising campaign that’s allowed the popular fusion restaurant to reopen, Bando Belly will launch a site at Pop Brixton this April. Originally based in Peckham, Bando Belly started out in January 2021 and quickly became a local fave before a fuse box fault caused their kitchen in Peckham Levels to burn down and they were forced to close.

Now, Bando Belly has found a new home – but is still sticking to its South London roots – in Pop Brixton. If you haven’t tried it already, Bando’s menu is inspired by founder Naz Ramadan’s ‘Jerkish’ (Jamaican & Turkish) heritage, as well as American, Caribbean and Southeast Asian cuisines. There are burgers such as the ‘Honey Butt’ (twice fried chicken thigh, honey butter glaze, pickles, spring onions & mayo) and the ‘Big Wave’ with soft shell crab, alongside Bando Bites, which include ‘Lobster Mac N Cheese Balls’, Tater Tots and Deep Fried Oreos.

And to mark this launch, there’ll be a few new additions to the menu. Expect ‘Bando Baggys’ (a take on the classic seafood boil with Tiger Prawns, corn, potatoes, garlic and your choice of sauce) and ‘Ban Ban Noodles’ (a take on dan dan noodles with either beef, chicken or mushroom). Also expect Bando Belly to become a community hub once again, with regular live performances from local bands and DJs and good vibes all round.

Opens Sat 8th April 2023
Pop Brixton, 49 Brixton Station Rd, London SW9 8PQ
