week’s Londoner is John Gregory Smith, food writer, cookbook author and presenter who has just launched a luxury online food and travel magazine Mighty Spice Kitchen. We got the spicy low down below…

HELLO John, tell us how long have you lived in London, where and why?

I have lived in London all my life. I started off West and have migrated East, I live in Shoreditch at the moment and I love it. There is so much going on all the time, loads to eat, drink, see and even the odd canal carnival.

Oh yes the dreaded canalival, best we don’t mention that one. So we know you have a few cookbooks under your belt, where are your favourite Indian restaurants in London?

Why yes i do, (shameless plug) my new one Mighty Spice Express is out in August, it’s a cracker! I love Indian food and there are loads of amazing places to it. I love Madhus in Southall the best chilli chicken ever; fancying it up at Tamarind this place is stunning; South Indian at Diwana Bhel Poori House; and you can’t beat a bit of Delhi Grill in Islington.

Oh we bloody love the Delhi Grill alright! Tell us more about your website, we’ve been salivating at the pictures and recipes…

Mighty Spice Kitchen is a new food, travel, lifestyle site – its awesome! Loads of delicious recipes, with a spicy twist, from some of the best chefs around. Beautiful travel features and reviews to inspire you to get out and about. Lifestyle features and lots of lovely competitions. It’s been a cracking start and I hope everyone enjoys it.

And finally what would be your perfect day in London?

Brunch at Salvation Jane, a wander round East London, dinner out and drinks on the roof of Shoreditch House.

Oh you know how to roll John, we’ll give you that! Check out John’s website for food and travel a plenty www.mightyspicekitchen.com.
