Midye dolma, aka Turkish stuffed mussels, isn’t a dish you’ll come across often, unless you’re in Dalston because that’s where The Midyeci – the first Turkish stuffed mussel shop in the country – is. Obvs stuffed mussels are the stars of the show here, coming stuffed with rice, spicy rice, and rice & prawns alongside curry and tarator sauces, and you can even get them by the kilo if you’re mega hungry.
The Midyeci is also serving up other seafood dishes, including calamari, crispy prawns, mussel burgers, and grilled mackerel sandwiches, so you may be looking out onto Kingsland Road but it’ll taste like you’re on a Turkish beach. And if you’re based further north you can still get your stuffed mussel fix as The Midyeci has also got a food truck parked up at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre.
