NEW ST JOHN BAKERY

Bread and wine. The holy communion. No, we’re not talking about the church. We mean St John Bakery, where the baked goods and booze are so good they take on spiritual significance – even if you’re not religious. The cult restaurant and bakery is opening a new outpost in London Bridge, supplied by the main bakery down the road in the arches in Bermondsey.

This means it’ll be even easier to scoff their doughnuts, Eccles cakes, brownies and pasties, not to mention pick up a loaf of sourdough (or five). And you can bulk order in advance to make sure you don’t miss out. Or treat your friends… Even we’d be friends with you if you showed up with a box of St John doughnuts. Just saying.

And it’s not just about the sweet treats: the shop will be selling sandwiches packed with cheese and chutney and egg mayo – all of which will be available on Deliveroo. So desk lunches just got a little bit less depressing and a bit more dangerous.  Alongside the breads, you’ll be able to pick up wine to take away. Now that’s what we call a match made in heaven.

Opens 19 October 2020
