Nestled under the arches at Battersea Power Station, Birdies is the latest crazy golf opening from the team behind SFG in Stratford and the Rooftop Film Club. Each hole is bursting with colour and has been designed to be fully immersive, and with a multi-sensory black tunnel, overhead cables and pressure pads, the course is sure to make even the keenest golfer feel a little out of sorts. Along the way there are handy tables to perch your drink on and a separate bar midway round the course, because golfing is thirsty work.
The bar is huge and an ideal place to get that first date drink out the way (c’mon we all know crazy golf is THE date activity). Drinks-wise there’s your usual beers and wines on the menu but don’t skip the cocktails, especially the Bloody Bees Knees with blood orange, gin, yuzu fruit nectar and fireweed honey. There’s Asian-Latin fusion street food by Taco Yaki on offer – think tacos and nachos alongside a completely vegan menu. The ‘cheatin’ seitan nuggets and octopus dumplings are particular faves.
