Chef Thierry Laborde (who’s worked at the likes of Le Gavroche and Restaurant Le Louis XV) and Operations Director Anton Efimov (formerly of Raffles Townhouse and Chinawhite) are teaming up to open French bistrot de luxe Les Platanes in Mayfair this month.
The restaurant, inside a 19th-century townhouse on Bruton Place, will take inspiration from the south of France with dishes like native lobster salad with fennel and peaches, turbot with artichokes a la barigoule, Gascony roast chicken with foie gras and fine beans, and homemade Paris-Brest on the menu. Naturally the wine list will be very French, with bottles from Provence, Bordeaux and Languedoc on there plus some rare vintages if you feel like splashing out.
