Hidden away at the back of a newsagents on Kingsland Road is the West African, speakeasy-style cafe Rosine’s Hot Chocolate Salon. The salon, named after a cocoa farmer from Ivory Coast, is part of the Fairtrade Fornight campaign designed to emphasise how important it is for farmers to be paid a fair wage. There’ll be three different hot chocolates, created by Melissa Hemsley, Tess Ward and Tom Hunt, on offer with each one costing £1.86 (which is the daily living income needed for a decent standard of living, yet most farmers only earn 74p). It’s all for a good cause, so get down there and get drinking.
