weeks LDNER is one of the most in-demand female DJ’s in the city, a sartorially minded and sought-after sonic force. She is also the daughter of world-famous DJ Pete Tong and co-founder of nightclub Jukebox, which you might have seen at Bestival. Occasionally joining forces with childhood friend and model, Amber Le Bon, the stylish duo are in high demand in the fashion scene and with a finger firmly on the pulse when it comes to new music, she has been appointed EAME Music Director for the W Hotel. Meet Becky Tong…

Where do you live in London and what do you like about that area?

Notting Hill. It has so much of it’s old charm still. The market and Goldbourne Road I miss if I haven’t been there for a few days!

How did you first get into DJ’ing? Can you remember your first gig, what did you play?

What have some of the highlights of your career been?Yes, I started firstly with my once DJ partner Amber Le Bon. We got asked to do a gig in Barcelona and I had only played to my brother in his living room before then so I was petrified. It was back in 2011 so we were playing a lot of electro remixes of pop tunes. I remember La Roux being in there a lot! I have had a lot of highlights with a music company I co-own called Juicebox – hosting a stage at Bestival was one of the best moments last year.

We hear you are the EAME Music Director for the W Hotel brand, what have you got going on there?

Well since the beginning of 2015 I’ve been working on how to bring the freshest and best music experience’s into the hotels. We have started with the new concept of ‘Suite Sessions’ which is a monthly private event for industry tastemakers to come into the hotel and experience a workshop, live session or debate on the newest hot topics happening now.

You are a co-founder of Juicebox, what can we find there and what are you fave night time hangouts?

Juicebox started as a club night but now is expanding to me more. We offer Radio PR, artist management and soon to be releasing stuff through Juicebox Recordings this year. Some of my favourite nights in London are Work It, New Shapes, Deviation and Juicebox of course!

What new music are you listening to at the moment?

Finally, what would be your ‘perfect day’ in London?

Breakfast at 26 Grains in Covent Garden. Shopping and ear piercings around Camden Market. Lunch at Manna in Primrose Hill. A walk around Primrose Hill. Dinner at Rasa Indian in Stoke Newington. Drinks at La Bodega Negra in Soho and Bowling at Bloomsbury Bowls.
