& Brew serves just that, beef and beer. Sitting on Kentish Town Road it boasts an affordable short food menu putting cuts like loins, ribs and fillets on the back burner and using rumps, flat irons and onglets instead. Whilst the drinks list shows off the best of the British beer brewing scene and there’s even some beers thrown in a couple of the beef dishes too…

We kicked off with a beef & ale sausage roll with beer ketchup, brisket jam nuggets and the smoked pig’s cheek on toast all worth fighting over. We followed with the Chateau Steak, a slab of meat, bursting with juicy flavours and a super soft butter-like texture and the cheeky French dip, a sarnie filled with beef cheek, gravy & beer cheese made using Schiehallion, a pilsner brewed by Harviestoun and another pot of gravy for dipping. Filthy and we like it.

Inside is cosy, modern yet simple, but that is all it needs to be – this ain’t fine dining. Be warned though, a bad case of the meat sweats is inevitable. Don’t fight it, just enjoy it…it is winter after all.
