it comes to Sundays we no longer look at our mates and ask ‘roast?’ Nope, we now say ‘Bacchus?’…that’s Bacchus Sundays, because it’s the only roast you need. Bacchus Sundays is the award winning pop up currently in residence at The Star By Hackney Downs. Award winning how? Listen up, the Beef is cooked for 9.5 hours at 52 degrees to ensure its tender, the make their Yorkshire pudding mix 24 hours in advance to guarantee soft centre, there’s a secret roast potatoes recipe and the gravy is made from scratch which all goes towards making this Sunday din dins one of the best we’ve had in London.

Served with seasonal veg Bacchus Sundays is piled high and proud. The best bit? Well that would be the aptly named ‘undecided’ which gets you cuts from three meats; beef, pork and lamb for just twenty quid. Those not familiar with The Star, well this pub is a beaut, great music, laid back pub vibes and sociable staff. Knock it down with a Bloody Mary and your Sunday is nothing but a winner.
