Crispin and Bar Crispin founder Dominic Hamdy is opening his third concept this summer and we’re hosting an exclusive preview
We were very sad to see Oklava shut up shop and now we know who is taking over the Shoreditch site – the Crispin team. The 45-cover Bistro Freddie will be a classic bistro through and through, from the leather banquettes and starched white cloths on the tables to the menu of comforting and unpretentious dishes to the generous, old school hospitality. As with both Crispin and Bar Crispin, there’ll be a focus on small and indie growers and producers across both the food menu and drinks list.
Anna Søgaard (ex-Erst) will be heading up the kitchen at Bistro Freddie and though the menu is still in development, you can expect dishes like:
- grilled mushroom parfait with watercress salad & fried bread
- pork crackling & pickled walnut ketchup
- Dorset snail flatbread with beef fat, garlic & parsley butter
- pork chop, apple glaze & bacon
- fried skate wing, curry sauce & peas
- rabbit & apple cider pie
- raspberry roly poly & custard
Given it’s from the Crispin Group, you can be sure the wine list will be on point. Alexandra Price, who oversees the selection at both other sites, will be curating the offering at Bistro Freddie and it’s going to be all French leaning – we’d expect nothing less from a bistro!
