A new restaurant has opened up on Broadway Market, taking the place that was left when the short-lived Poco quietly exited recently. Called Tuyo, it’s the fourth restaurant from the family-owned Gallipoli restaurant group who also have Gallipoli in Islington and El Ganso in Hackney.

They’ve had a little redesign inside with some new tables and chairs and some plants that bring the place to life a bit. On the menu, it’s a mix of Mediterranean and Levantine small plates, divided by meat, veg and fish. Possibly our favourite dish of the night was one of the veg dishes, a fresh flavour-packed salad of chargrilled artichokes with soya beans, black quinoa, feta cheese and parmesan. Another dish from the veg section, heritage tomato with baby squid and Lilliput capers, could have just as easily been in the fish section, but was another highlight, and the squid itself was cooked perfectly.

Other recommendations from us are the salt cod with lime confit, garlic potato puree and coconut migas; Oxtail croquet with mushroom aioli and pickled cucumber; and the spiced lamb tagine with roasted sweet potatoes, Greek yoghurt, marsala apricots and prunes.

With solid crowd pleasing dishes and friendly service too, we can well imagine Tuyo becoming a popular spot for dinner after a few beers on Broadway Market.
