loti eats: foxlow

Foxlow, the more casual offshoot from the Hawksmoor team, continues its mini expansion with a brand new shiny outpost in Soho, which is also its first in Central London. The place looks super slick, kind of like a bright American diner but with cool vintage style furniture, flashes of polished brass and a cool central horseshoe bar with cinema style light box lettering advertising “BYO Tuesday” in big bold letters.

As you’d expect from this lot it’s all about the meat really, with the day’s cuts chalked up on a blackboard and priced by weight. We actually stopped by for the Sunday roast and the beef was every bit as good as you’d expect – a thick slab of slow roasted rump, beautifully pink and juicy. This came with all the usual suspects: a big Yorkshire pud, honey glazed carrots, roasties, and a sweet, meaty bone marrow gravy. We’d recommend a side of the broccoli too and we also tried the burger which was an absolute star. When the meat is this good it’s hard to go wrong.

We’re suckers for a sticky toffee pudding so this was the only choice for us on the dessert front and it came drowning in dark sticky sauce offset by a scoop of bright clotted cream. Foxlow is great value for the quality of ingredients and cooking and its relaxed vibe makes it a good shout for almost any occasion – apart from if you’re vegetarian!
