loti eats | make’ hai

Make’ Hai is Stoke Newington’s answer to Southern Italy. Run by three friends from Naples, it serves Italian tapas, salads, and sides along with a large selection of cocktails, Italian craft beers, and wines.

Between two, we advise getting four or five tapas to share… plus dessert of course. A new one on us was the mozzarella ripiena – fried mozzarella stuffed with spaghetti and covered in tomato sauce – and it was pretty damn epic. It’s a crunchy, gooey, spaghetti ball bomb of fun. The fritto di mare served with homemade lime and mint mayo was another winner and one of our faves.

For mains we went for the rich and hearty gnocchi zucca e guanciale with a pumpkin cream sauce and super soft cured pork cheeks. There was no other way to go for us when it came to dessert – you have to see how good an Italian’s tiramisu is don’t you? It was another rich one and we’re not ashamed to say we devoured this in seconds.

A nice understated Italian that does things a little differently, Make’ Hai is a one we’ll be going back to for sure.
