make it real: dkuk

If you don’t enjoy staring at yourself whilst you get a haircut, get your next trim at Peckham salon DKUK because all the mirrors have been replaced with art. Architect Sam Jacobs has turned the hairdressers into a gallery by displaying pieces like prints, t-shirts and other objects in front of the chairs. The mirrors are used to create the illusion of more space in the tiny shop and not for checking yourself out. As he explained “Usually the way we look is conceived differently in a gallery or a salon..The space also considers how we are seen (or not) just as much as how we see.” So next time you get a tidy up, you can take in something cultural too.
