loti eats: breddos

London is having a bit of Mexican wave at the moment, with El Pastor having just opened in Borough and now Breddos Tacos who’ve opened their first permanent site in Clerkenwell. Having been one of the top street food traders in London over the past few years, it’s great to see the boys spread their wings and have a home to call their own.

On the menu there’s some signature classics such as the fried chicken taco, but also a whole host of brand new tacos and dishes to get down with. We particularly loved the beef rib eye taco with shrimp chiltomate, masa onion rings, and pickled jalapeño and the Baja fish tacos with punchy lime mayo. Breddos are making all their tortillas in house from scratch and you can tell… a fresher tortilla in London you will not find.

There’s also some bigger grill dishes and specials in the evenings – don’t miss the Iberico pork al pastor with pineapple nam Jim and picked onion – plus snacks and sides such as the queso fundido, a big pot of oozy cheese with both red and green chorizo. A great range of beers, cocktails and Mescal are also on offer, plus a wall of records where you can spin some tunes and make a night of it.

There’s already queues outside and rightly so – get down there quick sharp for a little slice of Mexican life in London.
