LOTI EATS: VENETA

veneta-loti

Veneta is the latest opening from Ben Tish, the chef behind Salt Yard, Ember Yard, Opera Tavern, and Dehesa. Located in a new building just off Haymarket, which also houses another new opening Anzu, Veneta has a glamorous classic design, with leather banquettes and a nice marble topped bar that lies beneath a mezzanine level. We only wish the very bright lights had been a little dimmer!

Veneta, as the name suggests, is inspired by Venice, with the menu divided into Raw, Small Plates, Large Plates, and Charcuterie & Cicchetti. Take our tip and order a couple of the fried polenta, speck and fontina sandwiches to start – we could have happily eaten these all night.

We then moved through a good selection of the menu, with the pastas being a particular highlight; a fresh pappardelle with kid goat ragu, and red prawn tortellini. We also loved the juicy pork rib eye and the meaty monkfish with anchovy sauce and salsify. To finish, it had to be the cheese trolley, piled high with Italian cheeses, plus one of our all time faves, the vanilla panna cotta.
