You might remember us raving about Perilla last year when they popped up at Platform One in Dulwich and with a successful stint at Palm 2 in Clapton too, Ben Marks and Matt Emmerson have decided to set up a permanent home for Perilla in Newington Green (on the site of kids spot That Place On The Corner – the second kids focused business to close in Newington Green with Yield N16 replacing the toy shop last year). Described as fine dining without the fuss, Perilla is all about relaxed unpretentious vibes and clever cooking.

With experience at Claridge’s, The Square and Noma, Ben has created a menu of seasonal dishes that includes seaweed bread brushed with roasted lamb fat, roast kale with cod roe, fired duck egg with mussels and cuttlefish bolognese. And when it comes to dessert you can expect preserved plum custard and pears poached in wine and citrus. Of course attention to detail extends to the cocktails too which focus on gin from small batch distilleries and Perilla’s very own infusions. Yes we are counting down the days till this one opens.
