live your lunch break

Londoners it’s time you take back something that is yours…your lunch break. Back in 2014 Flexioffices created the #LiveYourLunchBreak challenge encouraging busy Londoners to spend at least 30 minutes out of the office doing something different. Team LOTI took on this challenge, with our office in London Fields we’re spoilt for choice on what we could get up to, the reality is however, we don’t and this showed us that we need to do it more.

From Flexioffices study they found that less than 30% of people actually take a lunch break, which is pretty naughty. So we’re passing the challenge on to you lot to take a 30 – 60 minute lunch break for a week over the summer. Show us what you got up to on social media with #LiveYourLunchBreak. AND if you needed any inspiration, here’s what we did.

dolans books

Ben BEN’S CHOICE: DONLON BOOKS, BROADWAY MARKET

Living out my lunch break I took a stroll down Broadway market and swapped the laptop screen for some old fashion printed material. Donlon Books is a place of wonder, having an insane amount of books and magazines that can inspire a creative streak in just about anyone. From tattoo’s to skinhead culture to Scandinavian furniture design, fashion, photography, music and even erotica…though I normally leave that side of the shop until it’s dark. Browsing though these books, mags and publications gives me ideas, refreshes my brain and gets me excited to try out new features for LOTI. Getting away from my desk actually makes me more productive, focused and keen to share ideas and it’s something I need to do more often…it gets dark so late these days though!

JULES’S CHOICE: NETILHOUSE

The space in Neil House cafe is somewhere that we’ve gone to work from or have a meeting, but not on this day. NOPE! Going laptop free I got in on the sexy salads from Morty and Bobs and sat on the terrace to enjoy the sunshine surrounded by plants and the open air. Why don’t we do this more everyday…too damn busy that’s why, but there are plenty of others taking advantage of the the place and doing exactly that. Best lunch break i’ve had in ages.

London Fields Picnic

Sarah smallSARAH’S CHOICE: PICNIC IN LONDON FIELDS

Now the suns out, I managed to persuade the team to get their guns out and head to London Fields for a picnic. Getting everyone to bring a plate, we made a right feast of it with everything from green salads and smoothies to choccie cake. Not only did it get us out the office and out in the fresh air for an hour, but we also managed to catch a few rays and a tanned team is a happy team, right?

Stretch-LOTI

Christina smallCHRISTINA’S CHOICE: STRETCH, BROADWAY MARKET

On my lunch break I took the chance to get away from my screen and really clear my head by sneaking in a yoga session at Stretch on Broadway Market. Not only do the instructors put you through your paces with their signature Dynamic Vinyasa Flow style yoga but they really encourage you to clear away all your thoughts and just focus on the moment and on your movement. You get to switch off for an hour and get a good workout in at the same time…that’s just the kind of multitasking we like.

LF Lido LOTI

Megan SmallMEGAN’S CHOICE: LONDON FIELDS LIDO

After a morning of none stop typing in the office I decided to ditch the desk and take a dive into the local lido. I put on my best cozzy and enjoyed the Great British summer weather whilst doing a couple of lengths in the pool. I found it was a great way to clear your head and destress ready for another hectic afternoon in the office. It’s also a great workout so you’ll be returning to the office knowing you’ve made the most of your lunchtime break.
