weeks’ LDNERS knows a thing or two about what goes on in London Town as she helps curate event and brand partnership for Eventbrite, who we’ve collaborated with to bring you our top 20 events not to miss throughout August. Come and meet Katie…

Where do you live in London and what do you love about that area?

I live in Brockley, South East London. It feels like a well kept secret – quiet leafy roads, birds in the trees – and no one’s heard of it…it’s zone 2 – honest! The weekly Brockley Market with its array of local food producers and rotating selection of street food vendors is a real highlight – and of an evening we’ll often stop by the London Beer Dispensary, which specialises in locally brewed craft ales and serves up great burgers.

Tell us about what you do for a living?

I run the consumer marketing efforts for live events marketplace, Eventbrite – which, amongst other things, involves curating, producing, promoting and attending events and creating brand partnerships.

You must have got to go to some amazing events because of you day job, what comes to mind of some particular epic experiences?

Some of the food events have been quite crazy – a supper club based around death and decay at M1lk in Balham, where the pièce de resistance was half a dozen roast pigs heads, was definitely a one-off. I’m a music girl at heart and Eventbrite works with some brilliant festivals – IMS Ibiza and Dimensions in Croatia were tough gigs but someone’s got to do it! And there have been some rather grand experiences too – such as the inaugural Pitch to Rich final at Richard Branson’s house, and the TedxHousesOfParliament reception on the House of Lords’ river terrace.

Do you find your friends & family often pick your brains on things to do (we know what that’s like) where do you go to hide away and relax or have fun without having it feel like work?

Yep, I get all the requests! Since moving South East it’s easier to retreat, with loads of cool stuff going on that’s off the beaten track – from outdoor jazz shows in the gardens of Forest Hill’s Horniman museum, to epic free film festivals in unusual venues. We also love heading to the Barbican a few times a month – to catch some music, art, a movie or a wonder around the conservatory gardens, it’s my favourite place to while away a few hours.

What would be you perfect day in London?

It would begin with an outdoor swim at one of the lidos; followed by a very long lunch with friends at somewhere special – current favourites include Berber & Q and The Dairy. Then we’d walk along the canal and stumble upon some happening in a park that included some great live music, games and a beer festival (!) that went on into the evening. Assuming we were hungry again after that we’d stop off for some Vietnamese on Kingsland Road, before heading back to Brockley and getting an early night – because that really is a rare thing!
