UK is fast becoming one of the most progressive producers of premium denim, labels like Huit, Dawson Denim and Tender are just some of the key brands helping England to regain their domestic manufacturing.

Now there’s a new player in town, London based Flying Horse is the innovation of friends and co-founfers Sanjay Madan and David Rix. Both have a passion for adventure and have taken inspiration from South East Asia. With 30 years of denim experience coming from Madan and Rix’s design knowledge from years at Ralph Lauren, they have managed to break into the competitive indigo market.

Starting in 2010, the label has established itself at the forefront of pioneering dyeing and construction techniques. The intense process begins with the initial cotton and dyeing process to acquire ultimate indigo depth. Notable features include the brands signature yellow selvedge and hand-finished hardware as well as the laser branded waistband.

Located on Newburgh Street, the store itself reflects the brands spirit, referring back to the South East Asian influence. Reclaimed beams and white oiled Fleet Street floorboards give a certain sun bleach effect, adding to the travelling theme.

Not only flying the flag for British denim, they have also invented an amazing pocket sized sanding tool to age your new indigos to look as if they’ve been lived in. We know that to some major denim heads this is total sacrilege but for those who want their fades and whiskers right now, they can achieve that well worn look instantly.

As Co-founder David Rix explains “based on the tools used to achieve some of our aged washes, our sanding tool allows the wearer to customise and emphasise the everyday wear.”

Flying Horse have also created a short film showing the journey of one mans denim, it’s exquisitely shot and rather funny to watch. Check it out below.
