There’s a new Japanese restaurant in town and it’s already got quite the rep. Wabi located in Holborn is the latest offering from ex-Nobu head chef Scott Hallsworth with an extensive food menu that pretty much covers off every area of Japanese food from sushi and sashimi to wagyu beef. We’re no experts in Japanese food so rather than attempting to order ourselves we went for the Contemporary Kaiseki Menu, a 10 course menu which features a bit of everything.

Highlights included the fire roasted Edamame, Yellowtail Sashimi, Kombu Butter poached Lobster with Uni, Vegetable Chips & Yuzu-Truffle-Egg Dip and the sizzling Wagyu Steak. We’d even go all out and say the meal was faultless, each course perfectly executed both in taste and presentation, this is highly skilled cooking at it’s best.

Wabi also serves a small selection of imaginative cocktails, the Autumn Elixir caught our eye, Bulldog infused jasmine tea, Maraschino liqueur, Nigori Sake, Cucumber and Mint. We left our wine choices in the hands of the Sommelier who came up trumps. The decor inside is typical of a top end Japanese joint although a little less glitzy. For fine dining Japanese food in London Wabi is up there with the best.
