week’s Londoner is James Burke, Artist, drummer and Creative Director. James works on two main projects Acrylicize and shesh…

Firstyl tell us more about Acrylicize and shesh?

Acrylicize is an Art collective and consultancy based in Shoreditch, developing custom Art schemes and bespoke installations. We explore areas of Fine Art, Graphic Design, Interior design, Architectural Features – basically anything we’re inspired by and what comes out is our own unique style. Shesh is an Art Project that explores the relationship between Art, Fashion and Music and is an indulgence of mine that takes many different forms.

So you might say you’re pretty arty! Tell us more about the London venues you have worked in? The most exciting ones?

As a drummer I have performed at some of my favourite venues such as the Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scott’s and the London Palladium. As an artist I have developed work for many iconic buildings including Wembley Stadium, Heathrow T5 and Harrods.

That’s pretty exciting and how long have you lived in London?

I have lived in London my whole life. I was born in Paddington and currently live in Willesden Green. Willesden has a great young community and is just a stone’s throw from Camden and central London.

What do you do in your spare time when you’re not working?Any where our readers should be eating?

In my spare time I like to paint graffiti, play drums, eat great food and spend time with my family. I’ve just had a little baby boy so on the weekend I’m spending all my time with him. I love Italian food and am a big fan of BoccaDi Luppo – it’s great to sit at the bar there. I also love a good burger and my favourite so far has been at Lucky Chip and Burger Lobster.

And finally what would be your perfect day in London?

I love London in the summer. My perfect day would involve eating breakfast sat outside – The Kitchen table on Mill Lane does the best eggs in London! Then off to one of the Parks – Regents Park or Primrose Hill with friends. After that off for a long and lazy pub lunch. The evening would involve heading to one of London’s iconic London venues for some live music good food and a few drinks. When the weather is good everything just seems so much better and London really shines.

That’s all for this week folks, to check out James’s work hit up his website
