UBER BOAT IS COMING TO LONDON

It’s done taxis, bikes and food deliveries, and now Uber is heading for the river by teaming up with Thames Clippers to launch Uber Boat later this summer. And it’s not the first time Uber has taken to the water, having trialled an island-hopping service in Croatia and punting in Cambridge before.

The 20-strong fleet of boats and the piers they run from will operate in exactly the same way, although they’ll now be Uber-branded and you’ll be able to book journeys via the Uber app and board using a QR code on your phone. Contactless, Oyster card payments and regular tickets will all still be valid too.

The boats will still run according to a timetable so you won’t be able to call up one for whenever you fancy a cruise but it will be a good way to avoid the tube.
