restaurant La Tagliata is relatively new to Spitalfields. It specialises in Italian sliced steak or La Tagliata as it is officially known as in Northern Italy. Housed on Sandy’s Row, La Tagliata was born out of a love for traditional family style recipes, you will not find an endless list of pasta dishes here, just a small selection of what they do best.

The result means consistent, high quality food. Starters take the form of handmade pasta with a choice of sauces; Pomodoro, Pesto, Limone (the signature dish) and Ragú. Fresh, light, generous in size and damn tasty.

For mains, it’s all about the sliced steak which comes served with a choice of potatoes, rocket, tomatoes, shavings of parmesan and a balsamic reduction. The meat is light and tender, cooked to your liking and elegantly presented. For dessert it’s all about the tiramisu and Mama Mia! It’s delish.

Leonardo Da Vinci once said “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”, La Tagliata have nailed that and for just £29 for three courses. Bellissimo!
