We were big fans of the Dandy cafe when it was in its original shipping container home in London Fields, so the news that it was moving even closer to our hood and taking over the Newington Table site was big news indeed. It’s a great site with lots of potential and the Dandy boys, Daniel Wilson and Andrew Leitch, look well settled here already. Inside it’s largely unchanged but on the menu it’s a whole new animal.

Expect things to change up daily – most of what we ate were specials that day – but if they don’t keep their version of the lamachun on, it will be an absolute crime. A super fresh flatbread topped with soft pulled lamb, this was one of the best lamachun’s we’ve had. We also loved the fried chicken, which was nice and crispy and came with a spicy mayo.

It’s not all meat however – we had some bangin’ beetroot with burrata; grilled asparagus with Parmesan custard (yes!); and sweet pickled cherry tomatoes in a vanilla-infused oil.

Service is super friendly too so if you live in the area go check it out. We’ll be back to check out weekend brunch the next chance we get.
