Street sea-foodies Claw have finally opened their own bricks and mortar site in Soho and as we learned there’s really nothing to get crabby over. The menu is split into sections; crab, seafood, land, plant and sweet. We stuck with the speciality, ordering the crab mac and cheese, crab beignets, crab fries and a couple of cooked oysters and trout poke from the seafood section.

The crab beignets were the standout dish; fresh from the fryer, these hot donut-style fritters were filled with crab and came with a crab mayo for dipping. We can imagine ourselves stopping by for a bowl of beignets and a samphire G&T or Seaside Negroni whenever we’re swanning around Soho. Crab mac and cheese with London raclette and hollandaise was suitably creamy whilst the poke trout made us feel a little bit better about our indulgence, so light it was positively healthy.

Desserts aren’t to be missed either. A toasted milk parfait with sour toffee and ginger snap was a genius creation, the subtle lime and ginger making it somehow feel refreshing rather than heavy, much like the rhubarb crumble which was served cold and also felt pretty light…maybe that was just because of our mains. A cracking meal making Claw somewhere we can sea – sorry see – ourselves going back to soon.
