Breddos Tacos have opened a new spot slap bang in the middle of town, on Kingly Street, so now we can all get our taco fix in Soho. Just like the Clerkenwell original, the site is pretty cosy, with a small ground floor dining room and open kitchen, but downstairs there is an awesome basement drinking den where you can head before or after dinner for mezcal galore… we can see a few late nights happening down here.

Also like the original, the menu is a creative take on Mexican cuisine with a few Asian influences thrown in to many of the dishes. You can’t go wrong with the Breddos classics such as the Baja Fish and the Masa Fried Chicken tacos but it was the new dishes that really caught our eye.

Two of the larger dishes are absolute must orders: the lamb neck barbacoa, juicy tender meat served with house salsas and tacos; and the whole octopus with black vinegar, Sichuan pepper, and soy which was super soft. For dessert, it’s got to be the churros ice cream sandwich, something we’ve only seen in Mexico before – fresh coconut ice cream sandwiched between two discs of crispy churros and an absolute winner.

There is of course a huge range of mezcals, cocktails and beers to get stuck in to as well, making it a guaranteed fun spot for dinner (or lunch!). If you’re looking for fun, truly original Mexican food in London, Breddos are your boys.
