gingerline presents chambers of flavour v3

Over the years Gingerline has a built a great rep for putting on some of the best immersive dining experiences in London, so much so that tickets consistently sell out fast. Its Chambers of Flavour project is back for its third year and is its most ambitious project yet, and you can really see the effort that has gone into the production. Not only is there a complete (and quite elaborate) story – you go on an Inter-Dimensional Dining mission inside the Machine, where you’ll encounter various characters is all we’ll say – but all the rooms or “dimensions” are completely different and well constructed.

Just like all Gingerline events the experience is a closely guarded secret – you only get the location info via text on the day of your booking and unless you’ve actively searched out spoilers, you have no idea what journey you’re going on or what food you’re going to eat. They’re happy to accommodate dietary requirements if you tell them in advance but we’d say that it’s probably not one for super picky eaters as the dishes are quite inventive.  We won’t reveal what we ate but the quality of the food did exceed our expectations, with some hitting the same standard we’d find in a restaurant, which is not always the case with events like this.

Your ticket includes a welcome drink but you have to buy all the other drinks for the night at the steampunk-inspired bar before you go inside. Listen to the staff’s advice on quantity – you don’t want to have too little but you also want to spread the booze out as you can’t take glasses from dimension to dimension.

A lot of imagination has gone into Chambers of Flavour, from the sets to the characters to the food, but to really get the most out of it you have to be ready to get involved – it is immersive after all. Whilst we found the first two-thirds of the production stronger than the final part, it still does stand out as one of the top immersive supper clubs in the city. And it’s totally different to V1 and V2, so even if you’ve had a Gingerline experience before, this one will be all new.

A batch of tickets for the autumn will go on sale in July, so jump on them if you want to see what’s inside the machine.
