Gin, it’s all the rage these days and we don’t mean just necking it either, we’re talking about the interactive experiences, local distilleries popping up, special concoctions and all that jazz. Well if you fancy learning a thing or two about the tipple you might want to check out the newly launched Gin Journeys.
Lead by Leon Dalloway, an award winning mixologist, the tour take in 5 different London bars, that’s 5 different cocktails and an introduction to 5 different gins. What’s more transport is provided between the bars in the form of a swish mini bus – take it from us after bar number 4 you’ll think you’re riding the venga bus! Just us? Oh right…
We recently got ginvolved in one of the tours, starting at the City of London Distillery with a Statesman cocktail made using Bols Genever. We’d never been to COLD before which is another great thing about the tour, it takes you to some cool bars you might not have frequented before – oh and it’s all a secret until you arrive.
We also stopped off at The Blind Pig, where we discovered our favourite gin of the night Hayman’s Sloe Gin, Sloe and Twisted. We’re pretty sure that was the point of no return for us as someone accidentally left the bottle of open gin on our table – chin’ chin’ baby! Mayor of Scaredy Cat teamed with Sloanes, Worship Street teamed with Martin Miller’s and the Looking Glass with Dodd’s completed the tour, all top notch drinking venues and tipples.
The gins are all handpicked by the lovely Leon and the night will set you back £50 which includes talks, cocktails, tastings, transport and spending the night with Leon – a bloody bargain.
