One of London’s Most Hyped Bakeries Is Expanding

Great news for anyone who’s tried and failed to score the goods from Chatsworth Bakehouse

London’s bakery scene has never been better and Crystal Palace spot Chatsworth Bakehouse is one of the reasons why. Run by Sian Evans and Tom Mathews, the tiny bakery is turning out exceptional cereal cookies, focaccia slabs, Basque cheesecakes, galettes, cakes, and grandma slices. The pair’s sandwiches, like the Only The Bravas (stuffed with confit potatoes, romesco, fried almonds, roast peppers and aioli) and the Anerley Hill Hot (made with salami, prosciutto, chilli pepper spread, garlic aioli, provolone, pickled fennel and hot honey), have become so popular that you can only get them on pre-order for pick-up from Wednesday to Friday, and the slots disappear faster than Glasto tickets.

Great news then the bakery is expanding, opening a second, and crucially larger, site a couple of doors up the road at 116 Anerley Road. As co-founder Sian told CODE Hospitality, the new location, which will be a walk-in bakery with a larger menu, will allow them to increase production to meet demand as well as offer the team the opportunity to experiment with new creations. As well as more sandwiches and grandma slices, there’ll be savoury pies and different kinds of bread, and the new space will also host pizza nights and breadmaking workshops. And it looks like we won’t have too long to wait for it either…
