Alley Cats Pizza Is Opening a Second Site in Chelsea

After opening in Marylebone at the end of last year, Alley Cats and its NYC-style pizzas are heading west

Though you can find many styles of pizza, from Detroit deep pan to Argentine, here in London, Neapolitan pies have been dominating the city’s scene over the past few years. However, the slow fermented fluffy crusts have found a challenger in the thin and crispy NYC-style pizzas, thanks to the popularity of kitchens like Dough Hands, Crisp Pizza and Marylebone’s Alley Cats Pizza.

The restaurant went viral thanks to its Big Apple-inspired interiors – exposed brick, red and white gingham tablecloths, Sopranos episodes being projected on the walls – and Italian-American thin crust pizzas. And now the team is expanding, presumably to cope with the queues that were forming in Marylebone, with a second Alley Cats Pizza opening on the Kings Road this summer. The Chelsea site will replicate the same winning formula, so you can expect a similar look and a similar menu from Sicilian Head Chef Francesco Macri. He makes use of quality Southern Italian ingredients, including San Marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella from Campania and aged mozzarella from Molise, for his 14-inch pizzas, which come with toppings such as:

  • smoked pepperoni, aged mozzarella, tomato sauce, habanero and honey
  • fennel sausage, tomato sauce, aged mozzarella, pancetta, red onion and pecorino flakes
  • creamy vodka tomato sauce, aged mozzarella and buffalo mozzarella
  • wild mushrooms, aged mozzarella, taleggio, red onion jam and fried sage
  • tomato sauce, roasted bell pepper, crispy potato, pesto and vegan ‘nduja

If you’ve got an American-sized appetite, you can bookend your pizzas with dough balls, meatballs in slow-cooked tomato sauce, loaded vanilla soft serve, and tiramisu with pistachio.

Opens early August 2024
