CHECKING IN | LA CLEF LOUVRE

What with the advent and popularity of sites like Air Bnb for travellers, its always interesting to see how the traditional hotel sector adapts to people’s changing travel habits, particularly in a city like Paris, home to many grand old dames of the hotel world.

We recently spent the weekend at La Clef Louvre, an “apart’hotel” in Paris which promises all the convenience and amenities of a hotel mixed with the practicalities and home comforts of something like Air Bnb. Our room was decorated traditionally to a five star standard but with one key difference you wouldn’t normally find in a hotel room – a fully functioning modern kitchen. While we must confess we didn’t actually use the kitchen, we can imagine for families this could be a great plus.

The hotel’s location was perfect, just a stone’s throw from the Louvre and The National Palace. We enjoyed returning after a busy day to relax in the hotel’s living room style lobby, with newspapers, books, and coffee and snacks on the house.

La Clef Louvre draws a nice balance between luxury and offering practical and thoughtful extras and is well worth checking out, especially if you think you could get some use out of that kitchen.
