loti eats: tandoor chop house

Long gone are the days when Indian food meant oily curries, jarred mango chutney and brightly (unnaturally) coloured pilau rice. Oh no, thanks to Dishoom, decent Indian food is now as popular as gourmet burgers, and the latest opening to jump on the tuk tuk is Tandoor Chop House.

Located in Covent Garden the restaurant prides itself on offering fine chops and quality naan. It uses British ingredients but Indian cooking methods – think bone marrow naan, crispy lamb chops and masala rubbed ribeye all cooked in the coal fired tandoors. We ate our way through a selection of the dishes, and our favourites were the Dexter dripping keema naan, bhaji onion rings, THOSE lamb chops, the incredibly soft black pepper chicken and the seekh kebab roll. Pair with some of the quirky G&T’s on offer or the Punjab Sour and end with the coal roasted pineapple and honey ice-cream.

Like Dishoom and Hoppers before it, Tandoor Chop House is upping the game for Indian food in the capital – we suggest you get down there pronto.
