Serial restaurant-opener Jason Atherton is back again with another new spot, Temple & Sons, which has opened right next to Tower 42, home to Atherton’s Michelin-starred City Social. Temple & Sons is nice and casual, the kind of place you can pop into for a quick lunch or stay all night for a big dinner. We went for the latter of course and we are happy to say that Mr Atherton has another winner on his hands.

The menu is all about the British produce and there’s so much good stuff on there that we found it hard to choose and ended up ordering way too much. Still, better than having food envy…For us the highlights had to be the pig’s head and trotter fritters and the flamed English feta from the starters, and from the mains, we’d recommend going for the must-order game and truffle sausage roll with HP gravy and the whole grilled mackerel with soy, miso and fennel jam. Sides are banging too – don’t miss the chips with curry sauce and the grilled calcot onions with tomato and nduja sauce.

Desserts bring a pretty perfect sticky toffee pudding with sea salted caramel clotted cream ice cream and a very playful frozen PBJ yoghurt, roasted brioche crumb, and morello cherry jam which we absolutely loved. Cocktails are also very fun, all made in house and canned into a variety of Temple and Sons cans.
