LOTI EATS: THE BEAUTIFUL PIZZA BOY

Peckham is really having a moment with lots of design-led restaurants opening in the hood. One new resident is The Beautiful Pizza Boy, which moved onto Bellenden Road recently and as the name suggests, it’s all about the pizza. Before we got stuck into the slices, we began with a strong Elena Spritz from the creative Little Bird cocktail menu and generously portioned starters of creamy burrata with hazelnuts, parsley and lemon, and lightly fried aubergine, ricotta, honey and pine nuts.

Our pizzas came out dripping over the edges of their plates and laden with toppings; nduja, tomato, spicy salami and mozzarella on one and porcini, ricotta, globe artichokes, rocket and basil on the other. The bases, in homage to Naples, were light and fluffy, whilst the nduja was undoubtably the star of the show. And you can tick off two more Italian classics with dessert. We went for the homemade gelato…be bold and try the olive oil and coffee flavours…and a boozy tiramisu just like Nonna would make.
