Institute of Light, a new collaborative space consisting of an art-house cinema, record store, restaurant, bar, coffee shop and bookshop, is opening in London Fields in June, and to really get the launch going off with a bang, they’ve teamed up with MargoCamilo to create Rio Boteco. Tying in nicely with the summer Olympics, Rio Boteco is a pop-up corner shop pub serving street food and tapas like Vaca Malandra, slow cooked short ribs with cassava gratin; Moqueca, fresh seafood stew; Bolinhos de bacalhau, salted cod fish fishcakes; and pasteis, crispy savoury pastries.

On the drinks side of things, there’ll be plenty of cachaça cocktails, craft beer and prosecco on tap. And to complement the food and drink, the IOL’s cinema will run a programme of Brazilian films, including a Cinedining option, where you can tuck into the full restaurant menu in front of the big screen.
