school fine dining is on its way out. Whilst the classics will always remain, eating out has become more casual, with people wanting less fuss and more fun. But that doesn’t mean they don’t want food to be decent, oh no. They want excellent quality and good creds too. Say hello then to Galvin HOP, the “deluxe pub” from Michelin star Galvin Restaurants. A take on a city pub knocking out classic pub food…think bad-ass in your face premium hot dogs and fresher than the Fresh Prince unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell Tank Beer, which comes all the way from the Czech Republic.

We popped along to the boozer to check out the menu and it certainly beats the scampi fries offering at our local pub. Think rich slow cooked beef cheeks and huge flaky sausage rolls all freshly baked on site. Then there’s the ‘Luxe Dogs’, that’s posh hot dogs and ndjua roasties that you can eat in or take away. The menu is versatile enough to appeal to those watching their waistline and their pennies as well as those wanting to indulge, AND indulge we did with their Valrhona chocolate chaos bun for dessert.

HOP is mighty fine pub grub; wholesome, honest, hearty food done well. Oh, and THAT beer…well that’s the icing on the cake. The front terrace also means you can dine in the sun (if it ever shows its face). Winner, winner.
