year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show features an extra special design consisting of 300,000 handcrafted poppies, created to honour all servicemen and women who have fought across all conflicts in the last 100 years. Started in Melbourne in 2013 by Lynn Berry and Margaret Knight, the 5000 Poppies Project began life as a memorial of 120 crochet poppies, designed to honour their fathers who had fought in WWII.

Since then, it grew to over a quarter of a million poppies made by people all over the world. Now, with the help of landscape designer Phillip Johnson, the Victorian Government and Qantas, the 5000 Poppies Project has come to London, with the installation connecting the RHS Chelsea Flower Show with the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea for the first time.
